The two were supposed to meet in Gainesville last weekend, but Florida postponed it due to the threat of inclement weather brought on by Hurricane Matthew.
Both schools had been undergoing testy negotiations to reschedule the game, as both sides blamed the other. LSU had offered to host the game last weekend, but Florida (at that point) did not want to lose a home game. Playing the next two in Gainesville probably eased those concerns.
Both teams had previously scheduled games for Nov. 19 (LSU hosting South Alabama, Florida hosting Presbyterian), and Florida had originally suggested that as a make-up. However, LSU did not want to lose the revenue from losing a home game, so the Gators made the concession of playing the game in Baton Rouge.
Florida, who is ranked No. 18 in the country, is currently 4-1 with a 2-1 mark in the SEC, trailing Tennessee in the SEC East. LSU is 3-2 with a 2-1 record in conference, and trail both Alabama and Texas A&M in the SEC West.
