Let's just get one thing out of the way -- we're not claiming we know how long your lifetime is going to last. However, if we're sure of anything in this world, it's that these next four teams won't be hoisting a national championship trophy anytime soon. That is, unless it's for some weird CBS pregame photo shoot.
Let the hate mail flood in. Here's the 5 SEC Teams Who Won't Win A National Championship In Your Lifetime:
Vanderbilt Commodores
Kentucky Wildcats
Let's go ahead and get these two out of the way. Vanderbilt and Kentucky have been stuck at the bottom of the SEC football standings since they entered the league, and neither has enjoyed any success on the national stage. While we fully believe these programs will become relevant at some point or another, we don't think they'll be able to climb the SEC mountain, let alone win the College Football Playoff.
Arkansas Razorbacks
Arkansas had a ton of success under Bobby Petrino and were ranked as high as No. 3 in the country under him, but even with a roster full of future NFL talent, they weren't able to win the SEC West. Bret Bielema has the Razorbacks trending in the right direction, but they don't have the widespread appeal to attract the top prospects needed to compete with Alabama, LSU, Auburn, and Texas A&M on a week-in, week-out basis.
Missississi State Bulldogs
The Bulldogs spent most of last season ranked No. 1 in the country, but that looks like what will be the peak of the program's history. Mississippi State has never been able to have any maintained success because of their location and lack of tradition, and I don't see any real proof that Dan Mullen & Co. can keep this up (mostly because I don't expect him to stay in Starkville).
Missouri Tigers
Missouri has won the SEC East in each of the last two years, but they haven't been dominant on the national stage during that time frame. They don't have the talent base in-state to consistently compete with the rest of the top teams in the SEC, and with the rest of the East starting to catch up to them, they could find themselves sliding down the standings fast.
