Major League Soccer on Monday named Sounders FC center back Yeimar to the Week 8 MLS Team of the Week for his stellar performance in Seattle’s 2-1 win over the LA Galaxy at Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday.
One of the standouts in Seattle’s new 3-5-2 system, Yeimar put in another complete performance on Saturday as the Rave Green picked up three massive points on the road. The Colombian defender bagged his first goal of the year and helped maintain the team’s streak of zero goals conceded from open play this season.
With the win, the Sounders maintained the top spot in the Supporters’ Shield race.
