Will Bruin suffered a torn meniscus in last week’s game against the Vancouver Whitecaps, Sounder at Heart has learned. It was not immediately clear if that is why Bruin came off in the 62nd minute, but he did collide with a defender shortly before being subbed off.
Bruin underwent arthroscopic surgery on Friday and is expected to miss at least a month.
The injury comes at a particularly inopportune time for the Sounders, who are entering one of their busiest months and are already short-handed due to injuries and international call-ups. Even before Bruin’s injury, the Sounders were unlikely to be able to fill out a full 20-player roster throughout July.
