The USA has been a favorite heading into every Gold Cup, at least a favorite to push for the final if not win it. This year, Mexico, even with injuries, is the favorite and the USMNT is on the outside looking in. While Gregg Berhalter says that they are there to win, there are no doubt questions about that. The USMNT has lost the last three matches by a combined score of 5-1.
In the two warm-up matches, Jamaica and Venezuela, the USMNT was held scoreless. Guyana is nowhere near as good as those two teams but still could sit back defensively and give the USA a headache.
