Given Andi Herzog’s long-standing connection with the German club Werder Bremen, it’s no surprise that the United States assistant coach would speak highly of up-and-coming forward Jordan Morris ahead of his trip to the club’s winter training camp.
In an interview with a German daily newspaper released Wednesday, Herzog spoke candidly about his role in help setting up a trial with Bremen for the Mercer Island native — and longtime Sounders target.
“Our goal is to bring as many players as possible to Europe,” Herzog said in German, also referring to Morris as his U-23 team’s “best striker” and that “it is the question of how he can assert itself in the same league as in Germany or England.
