United States rout St. Vincent and the Grenadines, inch closer to Hexagonal

The United States national team defeated St. Vincent and the Grenadines 6-0 on Friday in a 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying match in the St. Vincent capital of Kingstown.

Bobby Wood opened the scoring in the 28th minute on a nice buildup from captain Jozy Altidore and Fabian Johnson. Matt Besler then scored his first international goal four minutes later before Altidore scored on a penalty kick in the 43rd minute after Wood was fouled in the box.

After the halftime break, St. Vincent had two goals called back for offside, the first coming from Seattle Sounders FC 2 forward Myron Samuel on a scrum in the box and the second from Sounders forward Oalex Anderson on a one-timed volley off a great cross.
