After the draw-that-feels-like a win on the road in LA, Tacoma Defiance kick off their 2021 home schedule tonight at 7 PM PT against San Diego Loyal. This is the return to Cheney Stadium for Loyal, who faced Defiance on the day that sports stopped in 2020. Tonight’s match is also a return for Trey Muse, the Seattle Sounders keeper on loan to Landon Donovan’s San Diego club. Muse started the majority of Tacoma’s matches in 2019.
Defiance midfielder Juan Alvarez scored a goal in a 1-0 win over Loyal in preseason. That match featured a handful of Tacoma players and the backend of the Seattle Sounders roster.
