The Seattle Sounders come into their first-ever Leagues Cup appearance in a bit of an odd place. They’re still well-positioned in the MLS standings and are getting healthier, but they’re also in the midst of a three-game winless run and a five-game stretch in which they’ve gone 1-3-1, which followed a 13-game unbeaten streak to start the season.
Tigres UANL will certainly pose some challenges for the Sounders, even if they’re a bit diminished from the team that has established themselves as one of the best in the Western Hemisphere over the past decade or so, including a Concacaf Champions League title and a trip to the Club World Cup final earlier this year.
