The Sounders announced Wednesday the signing of 17-year-old forward Alfonso Ocampo-Chavez, the 13th homegrown player signing in club history. The signing comes on the heels of 15-year-old Danny Leyva’s first-team contract in April.
Ocampo-Chavez helped lead the Sounders U-17 team to the 2019 Generations adidas Cup last month. He is currently the leading scorer for the U.S. U-17 national team this cycle with five goals in 14 matches.
“Alfonso is a good young player who is doing well within our developmental system,” Sounders coach Brian Schmetzer said in a news release.
