“Everybody left a lot out there on the field,” Sounders captain Brad Evans said of his team’s 3-1 loss at Club America on Wednesday night in Mexico City.
Some players more literally than others.
Evans showed off two fresh head staples after practice on Friday at Starfire Sports Complex, dull metal over a deep purple gash atop the crown of his skull. He’d earned the knock midway through the first half at Azteca Stadium, shortly after Clint Dempsey took a cleat to the face that opened up a bloody rivulet on his cheek.
Midfielder Erik Friberg is the only legitimate question mark ahead of Sunday’s Major League Soccer opener against Sporting Kansas City, however.
