MLS Cup 2019 will go down in history as the most attended sporting event in CenturyLink Field’s history after hosting an announced crowd of 69,274 on Sunday. That included about 200 standing-room only tickets that were sold the day of the game that allowed the Sounders to pass the previous record of 69,067 set by the Seahawks in 2018.
That beats the Sounders’ previous attendance record by nearly 2,000, which they set in 2013 in Clint Dempsey’s first-ever match against the Portland Timbers. It’s the fifth time the Sounders have eclipsed 60,000 in attendance, but the first time they’ve done it since 2015.
