It wasn’t the game they wanted, but for the Seattle Sounders, it was another 90-minute scrimmage that helps them get closer to the start of the season opener in just under two-weeks time.
The Sounders were hoping to get that 90 minutes against San Diego Loyal, but the USL Championship side cancelled the trip to Lumen Field at the last minute, citing “Covid-19 concerns.”
Schmetzer said the cancellation was unfortunate, if for no other reason than to test his team against an unfamiliar opponent. “It’s always better to play an opponent,” Schmetzer said.
