At picturesque Thunderbird Stadium on the University of British Columbia’s campus, Seattle Sounders FC 2 managed a 1-1 tie against Whitecaps FC 2 despite a helping of tenuous play from the Rave Green. S2’s midfielders struggled to retain possession throughout the match, and they were frequently disjointed in their passing. They managed a goal in the 37th minute though, when centerback Jordy Delem ran through the midfield and slid a pass to Zach Mathers as he ran between the Whitecaps’ centerbacks. Mathers went 1-on-1 against Whitecaps keeper Marco Carducci, and calmly put the ball into the back of the net.
