Things looked good for Sounders FC 2 as they began play at Toyota Field, but as the game went on the team started to wear down. They had trouble breaking through San Antonio’s defense early on, and ended up ceding possession to the home side as they searched for chances via riskier and riskier opportunities. Despite a few wayward opportunities in the second half, the Sounders were never able to get back into the flow of the game losing 1-nil.
San Antonio scored in the match’s 51st minute when midfielder Rafa Castillo slipped behind Tony Alfaro and lost his marker, Nouhou Tolo, to receive a pass.
