Putting the ball in the net was seen as one of the bigger challenges for the Sounders this season and their home opener on Sunday demonstrated why.
The Sounders shook off a sluggish beginning in which they fell behind by a goal and rallied to pressure the expansion Los Angeles FC club for the duration of Sunday’s season-opening match. But try as they did, they couldn’t get a ball behind former Sounders goalkeeper Tyler Miller and wound up taking a 1-0 defeat in front of 40,070 fans at CenturyLink Field.
The Sounders are in the midst of three games in just six days due to CONCACAF Champions League action and their starting lineup reflected that.
