Sounders fall behind in El Salvador

The Seattle Sounders kicked off their 2018-19 CONCACAF Champions League campaign with an away match against El Salvador side Santa Tecla, the first ever between the two teams. The Sounders found themselves a bit short-handed, as a number of first team regulars stayed in Seattle to continue getting ready for the start of the MLS season.

As expected, the Sounders dominated early, producing a number of almost-chances via Jordan Morris, but the finishing touch wasn’t there. The breakthrough finally happened in the 15th minute, after a Morris through ball to Henry Wingo was cleared straight to Nicolas Lodeiro.
