A handful of Sounders so pivotal in last season’s playoff run stepped up their game big-time to continue this year’s push.
Gustav Svensson, Harry Shipp and Kelvin Leerdam were all over the field on Sunday in a 3-1 victory over New York City FC. Svensson scored his team’s second goal and Shipp the clincher while Leerdam helped set up an initial Cristian Roldan strike in what became the first Sounders victory this season over an opponent currently sporting a winning record.
Jesus Medina cut the lead in half in the 68th minute, slotting home a long pass at the goal mouth.
