The Seattle Sounders come out of this very brief Gold Cup break somehow worse off health-wise than they were when they last played on July 7. Despite expectations that he’d be ready for this game, Nouhou was declared out for Minnesota United, and Alex Roldan has since departed on international duty. It’s bad enough that the Sounders signed two Tacoma Defiance players — Samuel Adeniran and Obed Vargas — to short-term contracts.
Based on how the rest of the season has gone, however, that might not much matter. Despite missing multiple potential starters for every game this year, the Sounders have gone undefeated in their first 13 games of the season.
