The wait is over. The Seattle Sounders have an official mascot once again after going nearly a decade without one. But, not so fast — Sammy the Sounder is not the same mascot that once used to represent the Sounders back in their USL days.
According to the official team press release, Sammy the Sounder joins the Rave Green as a descendant of USL Sammy, and, having spent time traveling with his pod, has returned to the Puget Sound. He is set to serve as a primary ambassador for Sounders FC’s youth programming, with a special focus on sustainability — a guiding tenet of the club.
