Finalizing their additions for another MLS Cup run, the Sounders late Wednesday night struck a deal with the Montreal Impact to bring Scottish midfielder Calum Mallace to the Emerald City for a fourth-round draft pick in 2019.
Mallace, 27, who never quite hit his stride in five seasons since Montreal selected him in the second round of the 2012 MLS SuperDraft, gives the Sounders added midfield depth as they prepare for the stretch run. The Sounders learned earlier Wednesday that they would not be acquiring Paraguayan star Derlis Gonzalez from Dynamo Kiev, a squad that drove a hard bargain on his international transfer fee.
