Seattle still isn’t playing great. Ask Cristian Roldan, or Brian Schmetzer, or Brett Hightower. What they’re doing is making great plays when they absolutely must. When earlier games desperately yearned for a tiny bit of magic to tilt the game in their favor, Seattle failed to produce. This game was different. They pounded incessantly on Minnesota for 98 minutes, forcing the home team to weather 23 shots, countless waves of possession and good chances. Then — magic! This wasn’t a “lucky win.” The better team’s force of will overpowered the lesser team and emerged victorious with a 2-1 score line.
