Seattle Sounders sign Everett native Jordan Schweitzer to Homegrown Player contract

The Seattle Sounders have signed University of Denver senior and Everett native Jordan Schweitzer to a Homegrown Player contract, the club announced Thursday in a release.

Schweitzer, a four-year starter for the Pioneers and a graduate of Henry M. Jackson High, played for the Sounders Academy from 2011-2012. He started 70 games over four years at Denver. The self-described defensive midfielder tallied just two goals and three assists in his collegiate career but also guarded a back line that allowed just a 0.40 goals against average in 2015.

“I’m definitely not a stats guy,” Schweitzer said in a phone interview.
