The Seattle Sounders selected University of Nebraska-Omaha midfielder Emir Alihodzic with the 13th pick of the third round of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft and Old Dominion defender Michael Nelson 76th overall as the league concluded the draft Tuesday via conference call.
Alihodzic, listed as a defender/midfielder on the UNO website, earned third-team all-West Region honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America this past season. The native of Tuzla, Bosnia, ended his college career with eight goals and three assists. Nelson — a 6-foot-1, 170-pound defender out of Austin, Texas — started all but two games during his three years with the Monarchs.
