PORTLAND, OR. – For the second consecutive match, the Sounders Academy came up big for Seattle Sounders FC 2. This time, it was midfielder John Magnus as S2 dropped Cascadia rivals Portland Timbers 2 in a 2-1 victory at Providence Park on Tuesday afternoon.
Magnus was involved in both S2 goals as he recorded a goal and an assist in his first start for S2. The first came in the 35th minute when Magnus played a brilliant ball over the top of the box and into forward Myron Samuel who was lurking at the back post and snuck it past goalkeeper Kendall McIntosh.
