Seattle Reign FC announced today that, due to an undisclosed medical issue, the team has waived Swedish defender Antonia Göransson. With Göransson's departure, the Reign now has two international spots available.
Göransson signed with the Reign in November, coming from Vittsjö GIK of the Swedish Damallsvenskan. The 25-year-old was being considered at left back, along with draft pick Carson Pickett, but Göransson also brought extensive experience in the midfield.
"Antonia is someone that I have been watching for a long time and I think has huge potential to make an impact in this league" Reign Coach Laura Harvey said upon her signing.
