S2 general manager Andrew Opatkiewicz has taken a personal, indefinite leave of absence from the club, Sounders GM and president of soccer Garth Lagerwey confirmed Wednesday.
Opatkiewicz was announced as S2’s general manager in October of 2014 ahead of the team’s inaugural USL season. S2 reached the postseason in its first campaign, losing to Colorado Springs in the first round, but currently sits in last place in the Western Conference following a 1-5-4 start.
Prior to joining S2, Opatkiewicz worked as the general manager of Seattle Wolves FC in the USL Premier Development League and with a sports marketing agency in Chicago.
