UPDATE (6/15/23): A group led by the owners of the Seattle Kraken who also helped rebuild Climate Pledge Arena has been chosen by Seattle Public Schools and the City of Seattle to redesign Memorial Stadium. The facility is envisioned to fit 10,000 fans and serve a variety of purposes from high school football to graduation to potentially professional sports. That’s likely too small to accommodate OL Reign but could potentially host Sounders U.S. Open Cup matches or be the home of Ballard FC. The completely new building is estimated to cost about $150 million.
A reimagined Memorial Stadium would feature covered stands, a concourse that opens into Seattle Center, modern amenities, and is envisioned to accommodate soccer, but would likely be too small to be a viable long-term home for OL Reign based on renderings created by design firm Populous last year at the behest of Seattle Public Schools.
