Reign FC and U.S. women’s national team midfielder Megan Rapinoe and goalkeeper Hope Solo are among the five nominees for the 2015 national women’s soccer player of the year award.
Both players played central roles as the United States won its first World Cup title in 16 years, with Rapinoe helping lead the team through its group-stage rough patch and Solo recording five shutouts. The duo also helped power the Reign to their another first-place NWSL finish, though Seattle did fall in the championship game for the second-straight season.
Rapinoe recently suffered a torn ACL while training with the national team in Hawaii.
