Sounders forwards Clint Dempsey, Jordan Morris and Nelson Valdez started together for the first time since the Seattle’s 2-1 loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps on March 19. Despite the new lineup, Seattle was shut out 1-0 by the Los Angeles Galaxy, making it the fifth straight scoreless home MLS match for the Sounders.
Despite the offensive struggles, head coach Sigi Schmid said the offense gelled.
“I thought, tactically, we wanted Valdez to battle up front to help us connect and play balls back,” Schmid said. “We knew Dempsey would drop a little bit, so we wanted Morris to push up higher on the left-hand side and get in.
