Ruidíaz arrived in Seattle after participating in the 2018 FIFA World Cup with his native Peru. The forward spent two years in Mexico where he was second in scoring amongst all players.
The Peruvian joins Seattle's roster as its newest Designated Player joining Clint Dempsey and Nicolás Lodeiro as the club's current Designated Players. He is the club's 12th Designated Player since Seattle's inaugural MLS season in 2009.
