Open Cup Review: Day 1 of Round 4

Though not known to many thanks to Argentina and Messi working wonders in Seattle, Round Four of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup had four of the sixteen games play tonight. Five MLS teams, two USL teams, and a UPSL team were all involved in what ended up being a pretty crazy night of Open Cup action.

This was a game mostly controlled by the Rapids but they couldn’t convert on any of their chances. The came close many times but it wasn’t until the 84th minute when former Sounder Marco Pappa, who returned to the pitch for the first time since April 26th from a knee injury, sent in a corner that was cleared towards Serna at the top of the box who’s shot deflected into the goal off a Switchback’s defender.
