Sounders forward Oalex Anderson played in just four minutes of Seattle’s 1-0 loss to Colorado last Saturday as a substitute, long enough to show off his fancy footwork, win a dangerous free kick and, as an MRI showed earlier this week, strain his hamstring.
Anderson will miss both the New England game this Saturday and the D.C. United matchup the following Wednesday with the injury, Seattle coach Sigi Schmid confirmed Tuesday. And the Sounders’ attacking depth, already called into question by Clint Dempsey and Nelson Valdez’s international call-ups, will be even further stretched.
Schmid said Herculez Gomez and Aaron Kovar could step into more prominent roles during the upcoming Copa America Centenario, and Andreas Ivanschitz’s return from injury will also help.
