No Seattle Sounders named to U.S. men’s national team roster for January camp

No Seattle Sounders were named to the U.S. men’s national team roster for its upcoming January camp ahead of friendlies against Iceland and Canada, the federation announced Wednesday, with former captain Clint Dempsey among the notable omissions.

The training camp — traditionally focused on giving looks to young, domestically based prospects — runs from Jan. 11 through Feb. 6 in Southern California. The United States faces Iceland on Jan. 31 and Canada on Feb. 5, with both matches taking place at the StubHub Center.

The roster is also sprinkled with age-eligible U-23 players, including Mercer Island’s own Jordan Morris.
