MRI reveals sprain in Andreas Ivanschitz’s right knee; Sounders midfielder doubt for rest of regular season

Andreas Ivanschitz has a slight sprain in his right knee, an MRI has revealed, and the Sounders midfielder is likely to miss each of the final two games of the regular season.

Ivanschitz has already been ruled out Sunday’s match at first-place FC Dallas, interim Seattle coach Brian Schmetzer conceded, and is “probably doubtful” for next weekend’s finale against Real Salt Lake at CenturyLink. Ivanschitz was injured in the early stages of the scoreless draw with Houston on Wednesday night, pulling his jersey over his face as he walked to the locker room in anguish.

The Austrian is tied for the team lead with eight assists to go along with three goals in 28 MLS appearances.
