Veteran midfielder Erik Friberg announced his departure from the Seattle Sounders on Twitter on Tuesday morning after spending a combined three seasons with the club and winning an MLS Cup title.

Friberg, who spent the 2011 season in Seattle and then rejoined the Rave Green in June 2015 after spending several seasons abroad, started 18 games for the Sounders in 2016 and played more than 1500 minutes with two assists registered in the regular season.
