The loss snapped a two-match unbeaten streak (0-0-2) for Defiance, who has a week off before playing five of its next six games at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma.
Douglas Martinez recorded a hat trick for the hosts to lead his club to its fifth consecutive victory. Andrew Putna made three saves to earn his first shutout of the season for Real Monarchs, while Maikel Chang and Jack Blake added a goal each.
