Major League Soccer on Monday named Seattle Sounders defender Kelvin Leerdam to its Week 2 Team of the Week for his efforts in a 2-0 win over the Colorado Rapids.
Leerdam scored his second goal in as many matches to start the season and helped the defense pitch a shutout. He also completed 86 percent of his passes and had four recoveries on defense.
This is the second straight week a Sounder has earned Team of the Week honors. Jordan Morris, who was also voted Week 1 MLS Player of the Week, and Nicolás Lodeiro were named to last week’s team, with Víctor Rodríguez making the bench.
