Major League Soccer Monday rewind: That time of year

‘Tis the point of the Major League Soccer season where you look at the league standings and realize, damn, there aren’t all that many games left.

Colorado, which has played the fewest matches in MLS, is into the single digits in games remaining. Seattle has eight, starting with a now-crucial trip to seventh-place San Jose on the other side of a bye week. Kansas City, which is clinging desperately to its shrinking lead among the Western Conference playoff challengers, has just six matches left.

If the overwrought cliche about the NBA is that one needs only to tune into the last two minutes of game, a similar one exists about the final two months of the MLS season.
