The Lumen Field Event Center will serve as one of three mass Covid-19 vaccination sites in Seattle, the city announced on Monday. Although supplies of the vaccine remain limited and are mostly only available to those 65 and older, the SoDo location will eventually have the capacity to administer 150,000 shots a week.
In the near term, however, things will be starting out considerably slower. First, the city will open two other mass vaccination sites at the Southwest Athletic Complex in West Seattle and the Atlantic City Boat Ramp in Rainier Beach. Those will open today with an initial capacity of 1,000 shots a week and build up to 1,000 shots a day.
