Kurt Schmid has left the Seattle Sounders organization to join his father at the LA Galaxy, Sounder at Heart has confirmed. The move coincides with the Galaxy adding the title of general manager to Sigi Schmid’s role as head coach. The news was first reported by the LA Times’ Kevin Baxter. His exact role with the Galaxy was not immediately clear.
The younger Schmid had been with the Sounders organization since 2009. He was first hired as a scout — largely sharing that role with Chris Henderson — but this year had added the title of S2 general manager.
