One of the more significant developments in Jordan Morris’ game since returning from knee surgery this year has been his playmaking ability from the wing. Just in case any United States men’s national team observers had overlooked that, he put on quite a display Friday.
Morris tied a USMNT record by recording three assists while adding a goal — all before being pulled at halftime — during a 7-0 win over Cuba in Concacaf Nations League. Cobi Jones (1993 vs. New Zealand) and Landon Donovan (2009 vs. Trinidad & Tobago and 2013 vs. El Salvador) had previously registered three assists in a match.
