Jordan Morris' dream year took one of its biggest steps forward when the Stanford men's soccer team qualified for their first-ever College Cup final by beating Akron 8-7 in a 10-round penalty shootout on Friday.
The game was scoreless through 90 minutes of regulation and 30 more minutes of overtime, though Morris set up a couple teammates for golden scoring opportunities. Morris also converted his attempt during the shootout.
Although they were unable to break through during the run of play, Stanford had the better and the bulk of the opportunities to score. They forced Akron goalkeeper Jake Fenlason into six saves.
