Jess Fishlock one step closer to Champions League final

After being a critical midfield engine for most of Lyon’s UEFA Champions League run, Jess Fishlock started again in Sunday’s Champions League semifinal match, going 81 minutes at home against Chelsea. In the leg 1 semifinal, Fishlock’s French club earned a 2-1 win in front of 22,911 fans.

The Reign FC midfielder, on loan to Lyon until their Champions League run ends, was the controlling force in the midfield alongside French holding midfielder Amandine Henry. It was Fishlock who often dictated the pace of the play, skillfully choosing when to make attacking runs into the box, when to unleash a shot from distance, and when to send long balls to switch the point of attack.
