Although the Seattle Sounders didn’t lose any players who logged significant first-team minutes for them last year, they did not escape the MLS Expansion Draft completely unscathed. With the fifth pick Inter Miami took Bryan Meredith, presumably to be their backup goalkeeper.
“He’s got a ton of experience and been around a really top club,” Inter Miami GM Paul McDonough said during the live stream.
Meredith has only made one first-team appearance since being reaquired by the Sounders before the 2017 season, but had made 25 appearances for the USL team over the same time period and had served as Stefan Frei’s primary backup.
