Injury suffered by Sounders midfielder Aaron Kovar in Open Cup ‘looks like a clavicle fracture’

Midway through the second half of Seattle’s 4-2 loss to Los Angeles on Wednesday in the quarterfinal round of the 2016 U.S. Open Cup, Sounders teammates Aaron Kovar and Oniel Fisher collided while pursuing the ball inside their own penalty box.

Fisher rose to his feet quickly, but Kovar stayed down. Though trainers called for a stretcher, Kovar was able to gingerly walk off under his own power, his right arm dangling.

Sounders coach Sigi Schmid gave voice to initial fears in his post-match press conference, and the player himself appears to have confirmed them on Thursday morning via social media.
