For anyone who lived through it, the 2014 Seattle Sounders season was absolutely magical. No, it didn’t end the way any of us wanted — and certainly not as well as 2016 or 2019 — but it was almost inarguably the best ride we’ve ever been on when considering how long it lasted.
Without a doubt, one of the highlights of that season was the 2014 U.S. Open Cup final. It was the fifth time in six years that the Sounders had advanced to the final, and there were several memorable games leading up to it.
