Right before the playoffs started the Seattle Sounders announced that they had a first-team player test positive for Covid-19. Tonight, during the press conference following the emotional 3-2 victory over Minnesota United in the Western Conference final, Gustav Svensson confirmed that he was the player who tested positive.
“I had a couple days to prepare,” Svensson said about finally being cleared to resume training after confirming to the press that he was the player who had tested positive. “I’ve been watching and cheering. I’m happy they’ve fought and won before this one. I didn’t want this season to end with me on the sideline.
