Georgetown defender Joshua Yaro, the potential No. 1 overall pick in this month’s SuperDraft, has signed a Generation adidas contract with Major League Soccer and will be on the list of draft-eligible players expected to be released Thursday by the league.
Yaro, a unanimous Big East defender of the year selection following his junior season with the Hoyas, was a projected top selection ahead of last year’s SuperDraft but opted to stay in school. With the No. 1 pick, Orlando City selected forward Cyle Larin, who won the 2015 Rookie of the Year award after netting a rookie-record 17 goals for the Lions.
