Former Sounders midfielder Micheal Azira picked up by the Colorado Rapids as the only player selected in Wednesday’s Major League Soccer Waiver Draft. Seattle passed with the No. 15 pick, as did every other team but the Rapids at No. 2.
Much was expected of Azira heading into the 2015 season, as he started the year as a fill-in for injured defensive midfielder Osvaldo Alonso and earned positive reviews during training camp. After starting the first three matches of campaign, though, Azira’s minutes slowed to a trickle. The 28-year-old Ugandan also started five matches in June, but made just two more appearances from that point on.
